Election Day Audit
(Polling Location Votes vs. Voter Signatures)
The Election Day Audit process ensures that the correct amount of ballots voted at the polling locations on Election Day are uploaded into the tabulator after the close of polls. Polling Location workers are responsible for ensuring voters sign precinct specific poll books when voting a regular ballot. Upon closing the polls, final numbers are recorded on a statistical page at the front of the Signature Poll Book. This number is compared against the number of ballots cast, per precinct, according to the tabulation system. Discrepancies between the two numbers require further investigation.

Procedure
- An Election Day Audit spreadsheet or database is utilized to enter the number of signatures for regular voters. This information can be found on the statistical page in the front of the Signature Poll Book. If any statistical pages are not able to be found, the signature poll books must be located and signatures counted.
- Once all regular votes are uploaded to the tabulator, the data should be exported to the Election Day Audit spreadsheet or database.
- The two columns of numbers should be compared. Any precincts in which the numbers do not balance i.e., are off by more than a predetermined number, will require a hand count of the number of signatures in the poll book and/or a hand count of the number of voted ballots.
- Any discrepancies must be fully investigated and if necessary, the ballots must be rescanned and uploaded into the tabulator.
